An important component to your wellness

RMT Education & Certified Standards

In order to become a Registered Massage Therapist, the therapists complete a minimum of 2200 hours of post secondary education, which gives them extensive knowledge and understanding of the human body. The overall goal of massage therapy is to decrease pain, improve range of motion and increase your rate of recovery. This is accomplished by releasing tension in your muscles, joints, connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, and tendons.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does massage therapy at your Coquitlam clinic include?

Registered massage therapy works on the soft tissues of your body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments. Our Coquitlam RMTs offer deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, pre and post natal massage, post mastectomy massage and craniosacral therapy.

2. Who can benefit from massage therapy?

Massage therapy may help if you are dealing with muscle tension, headaches, sports injuries, stress, or recovery after a motor vehicle accident or surgery. At your first visit your RMT reviews your health history, does an assessment and builds a treatment plan with you.

3. Can I book a particular massage therapist in Coquitlam?

Yes. All nine of our Coquitlam RMTs can be booked online. Choose your therapist when you book, or from their profile on this page, and you will see their current availability.

4. Does ICBC cover massage therapy in Coquitlam?

If your motor vehicle accident was within 12 weeks of your first appointment, we can direct bill ICBC for eligible massage therapy once you complete the Motor Vehicle Accident form online, sign the third party billing agreement and add a credit card to your account. If your accident was more than 12 weeks ago, email your written ICBC approval to MVA@catalystkinetics.com before booking.

5. Do I need a doctor's referral for massage therapy in Coquitlam?

You can book a massage therapy appointment at our Coquitlam clinic online without a referral. Medavie Blue Cross requires a GP referral for massage therapy, and some extended health plans ask for one before they reimburse, so check your plan.

6. How long is a massage therapy appointment?

If you are new, or have not seen one of our RMTs in the past year, your first visit is a 60 minute new patient appointment. After that you can book 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions, and some of our Coquitlam RMTs also offer 90 minute sessions.

7. How much does massage therapy cost in Coquitlam?

A 60 minute new patient appointment is $140. Follow up sessions are $85 for 30 minutes, $117 for 45 minutes, $140 for 60 minutes and $200 for 90 minutes.

8. Can I combine massage therapy with physiotherapy or chiropractic care?

Yes. Our Coquitlam RMTs work in the same clinic as our physiotherapists and chiropractors, so your care can be coordinated in one place.

9. Where is your Coquitlam massage therapy clinic?

Catalyst Kinetics Group Coquitlam is inside Planet Ice at 2300 Rocket Way, Coquitlam, BC V3K 6Z2. Call 604-259-3929 or book online.
