RMT Education & Certified Standards

In order to become a Registered Massage Therapist, the therapists complete a minimum of 2200 hours of post secondary education, which gives them extensive knowledge and understanding of the human body. The overall goal of massage therapy is to decrease pain, improve range of motion and increase your rate of recovery. This is accomplished by releasing tension in your muscles, joints, connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, and tendons.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does massage therapy at your Surrey clinic include?

Registered massage therapy works on the soft tissues of your body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments. Our Surrey RMTs offer deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, pre and post natal massage, post mastectomy massage and craniosacral therapy.

2. Who can benefit from massage therapy?

Massage therapy may help if you are dealing with muscle tension, headaches, sports injuries, stress, or recovery after a motor vehicle accident or surgery. At your first visit your RMT reviews your health history, does an assessment and builds a treatment plan with you.

3. Can I book a particular massage therapist in Surrey?

Yes. Choose your therapist when you book online, or from their profile on this page, and you will see their current availability.

4. Do you direct bill insurance for massage therapy in Surrey?

Our Surrey clinic can direct bill ICBC for motor vehicle accident claims, as long as you have a valid credit card on your account. For other insurance plans, please see our Surrey Billing Options page or ask our reception team before your first visit.

5. Does ICBC cover massage therapy in Surrey?

If your motor vehicle accident was within 12 weeks of your first appointment, we can direct bill ICBC for eligible massage therapy once you complete the Motor Vehicle Accident form online, sign the third party billing agreement and add a credit card to your account. If your accident was more than 12 weeks ago, email your written ICBC approval to MVA@catalystkinetics.com before booking.

6. Do I need a doctor's referral for massage therapy in Surrey?

You can book a massage therapy appointment at our Surrey clinic online without a referral. Medavie Blue Cross requires a GP referral for massage therapy, and some extended health plans ask for one before they reimburse, so check your plan.

7. How long is a massage therapy appointment?

If you are new, or have not seen one of our RMTs in the past year, your first visit is a 60 minute new patient appointment. After that you can book 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions, and one of our Surrey RMTs also offers 90 minute sessions.

8. How much does massage therapy cost in Surrey?

A new patient appointment is $140 plus GST. Follow up sessions are $85 for 30 minutes, $117 for 45 minutes, $140 for 60 minutes and $200 for 90 minutes, plus GST. See our Surrey fee schedule for current rates.

9. Can I combine massage therapy with physiotherapy or chiropractic care?

Yes. Our Surrey clinic also has chiropractors, physiotherapists, kinesiologists and naturopathic doctors, so you can book more than one type of care in one South Surrey clinic.

10. Where is your South Surrey massage therapy clinic?

Catalyst Kinetics Group Surrey is at 376 175a Street, Surrey, BC V3Z 6S7. Call 604-553-3099 or book online; the clinic is open seven days a week.
