Regenerative Injection Therapy

Regenerative Injection Therapy (RIT) encompasses the strategic injection of specialized solutions into compromised soft tissue, including ligaments, tendons, and cartilage. This targeted approach stimulates localized inflammation, fostering a natural healing response. The aim is to promote the formation of new connective tissue, enhancing the strength and integrity of ligaments, tendons, and related structures. At Catalyst Kinetics Group, our primary RIT modalities are Prolotherapy and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). The goals of these treatments include, but are not limited to improvements in strength, stability, function and the reduction of pain and stiffness. These techniques are often complemented by other interventions, specifically exercise rehabilitation.

Regenerative Injection Therapy

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection technique that is used to treat damaged ligaments and tendons over a series of treatments. It involves the injection of an irritant solution at the site of injury to trigger the body’s own natural healing response to repair damaged or degenerated ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and other adjacent structures within the joint. The irritant solution used most often contains dextrose, a natural form of glucose normally found in the body, along with a small amount of local anesthetic and saline.

PRP

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) emerges as a valuable intervention for addressing both acute and chronic joint pain, leveraging the regenerative potential inherent in platelets. Platelets are cellular components rich in clotting and growth factors pivotal for tissue repair. In the context of joint health, PRP functions by delivering concentrated platelets directly into injured areas, initiating the healing cascade.

The procedure involves extracting the patient’s blood, processing it to concentrate platelets by centrifugation, and subsequently injecting the highly concentrated dose of platelets suspended in plasma into the affected area.

Additional Advanced Injection Therapies

At Catalyst Kinetics Group, we recognize and respect the uniqueness of each individual and their specific health situation. Understanding that no two patients are alike, we tailor our approach to provide personalized care. In addition to regenerative injections like prolotherapy and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), we offer a spectrum of injection options to address diverse needs. These include corticosteroids and hyaluronic acid injections for targeted anti-inflammatory and lubricating effects. Further expanding our repertoire, we provide trigger point injections for localized muscle relief, neural/perineural therapy for nerve-related issues, as well as ozone injections and nerve hydrodissection techniques, ensuring a comprehensive and customized treatment plan for each patient.

Injection Therapy - FAQs

1. What is the process in booking for injection therapies?

If you are new to our team of Naturopathic Doctors (ND), please book a New Patient Consultation for a comprehensive intake. If it has been over one year since seeing one of our NDs, you may book as a Readmission Visit. During the visit, the ND will take a comprehensive history, complete a physical assessment and review the treatment options. If time permits, some therapies may be completed in an initial visit however, some injections such as PRP will need to be arranged at a subsequent visit.

2. What is the cost of the injection therapies?

The pricing for these therapies varies based on the type of treatment and method used, the number of areas being treated, the complexity of the injection and the time needed to complete.

The cost for Prolotherapy ranges from $170.00 – $320.00, while PRP ranges from $500.00 – $975.00. Please note that additional fees for add on therapies and/or medications may be applied.

3. How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies based on individual conditions and the treatment being administered. A series of regenerative injection therapies may be recommended for optimal results. Your healthcare provider will assess your progress and tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.

4. Are there side effects to the treatment?

Side effects are generally minimal. You may experience soreness or swelling at the injection site, which is normal and temporary. Serious complications are rare, and your healthcare provider will discuss any potential risks with you before the procedure.

5. Will my regenerative injection treatments be covered under my extended benefits?

Coverage depends on your specific insurance plan. It’s advisable to check with your insurance provider to determine the extent of coverage for regenerative injection therapies and Naturopathic care. Our clinic can assist by providing any necessary documentation to support your claim.

6. How should I prepare for my treatments?

Please come prepared to your visit with any medical imaging reports and a list of current medications. Prior to injections, it is recommended to refrain from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for a minimum of 48 hours as these may inhibit the inflammatory response regenerative injections are initiating. On the day of your treatment, you please eat a meal, hydrate with plenty of water and wear comfortable clothing to facilitate access to the treatment area.
