His interest in helping people regain and maintain active lives was sparked during a university practicum when he volunteered as a personal trainer for a client with quadriplegia. After graduating university, he began to develop his niche as a personal trainer focused on rehabilitation at a multi-location gym where he was also a group fitness instructor and group fitness manager. He also owned a kinesiology studio for several years.
Clients say that his strengths as a kinesiologist are his compassion and his keen observation skills. Alfred is known for empowering clients with medical conditions such as chronic pain, osteoarthritis, Parkinson’s, total joint replacements, and musculoskeletal injuries to improve their mobility, strength and physical activity levels.
His enthusiasm for client education extends beyond your appointments to writing and speaking about health, fitness and rehabilitation. He has contributed to publications such as IMPACT Magazine and Global News’ 8 No-Equipment Exercises You’re Probably Doing Wrong. Most recently he has spoken at RBC Royal Bank, the Running Room and the Wellness Show on integrating small daily activities, mental health and running injury prevention.
Alfred is an endurance athlete who enjoys running half-marathons, hiking and cross-country skiing while teaching his young son the importance of daily physical activity.
