2. Do I need massage therapy?
Massage therapies are so therapeutic that everyone should get them once a week. You may need massage therapy if you
- Are feeling stressed
- Get frequent headaches
- Have a sedentary lifestyle
- Lack flexibility because of painful joints
- Have poor posture
- Have trouble sleeping
- Have never had a massage before
3. Can I book a particular massage therapist?
Of course! Simply find the massage therapist you like, and book an appointment right from their profile page.
Each therapist’s schedule is always updated and you want to book your favorite therapist before the slot you want is full.
4. What groups do you direct bill with?
We direct bill ICBC, Medavie Blue Cross and many extended health insurers, including Pacific Blue Cross, Canada Life and Manulife, as long as they are your primary insurer. Medavie Blue Cross requires a GP referral for massage therapy. See our Billing Options page for the full list.
5. Does ICBC cover massage therapy in New Westminster?
Yes. If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident, ICBC covers Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) as part of your recovery plan. Our New Westminster RMTs accept ICBC claims directly — no doctor’s referral required. Contact us when booking and we’ll walk you through the process.
6. Do I need a doctor’s referral for massage therapy in New Westminster?
No referral is needed to book with our New Westminster RMTs. If you want us to direct bill your insurance for massage therapy, our Billing Options page lists a GP referral as a requirement, and some plans ask for one before they reimburse. ICBC claims after a motor vehicle accident do not need a referral.
7. How long is a massage therapy appointment?
Your first visit is a 60 minute new patient appointment. After that, you can book 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute sessions with your registered massage therapist, depending on your needs.
8. What is the difference between massage therapy and manual lymph drainage?
Registered massage therapy works on your muscles and soft tissue to ease tension and support recovery. Manual lymph drainage is a gentle, specialized massage technique that works with the lymphatic system and may help with swelling, lymphedema and recovery after surgery. Both are provided by our Registered Massage Therapists in New Westminster.
9. Can I combine massage therapy with physiotherapy or chiropractic care?
Yes. Our RMTs work alongside our chiropractors and naturopathic doctors, and our physiotherapists may recommend massage therapy as part of your recovery plan, so your care can be coordinated in one New Westminster clinic.
