Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)
At Catalyst Kinetics Group, we use the Delfi state-of-the-art Personalized Tourniquet System for Blood Flow Restriction (BFR). It has been designed to safely regulate and control the tourniquet pressure applied to the limb while performing BFR training.
The specialized tourniquet is worn around the proximal (upper) portion of your arm or leg, and then the cuff is inflated. Once the cuff is inflated, the exercise can begin. The best way to describe exercising with the cuff on is intense, but satisfying. The results speak for themselves!
BENEFITS OF BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TRAINING
Decrease muscle atrophy – Increase muscle strength and hypertrophy – Improve muscle activation – Increase growth hormone responses – Reduce post-injury recovery time

1. What is blood flow restriction training?
Blood flow restriction (BFR) training uses a specialized tourniquet cuff worn around the upper part of your arm or leg. The cuff is inflated and then you exercise with it on. At Catalyst Kinetics Group we use the Delfi Personalized Tourniquet System, which is designed to safely regulate and control the pressure applied to the limb.

4. Who provides BFR training in New Westminster?
BFR is one of the techniques used by our New Westminster physiotherapists, alongside manual therapy and exercise prescription. It is often used in active rehabilitation.
5. Is BFR training covered by ICBC or my extended health plan?
BFR is delivered as part of a physiotherapy visit. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, ICBC covers physiotherapy as part of your recovery plan, and our New Westminster physiotherapists accept ICBC claims directly. We direct bill many extended health insurers, including Pacific Blue Cross, Canada Life and Manulife, as long as they are your primary insurer. See our Billing Options page for the full list.
6. How do I book BFR training?
Book a physiotherapy appointment through our New Westminster booking page and mention that you are interested in BFR, or contact our reception team.
